Returning to her parents in New York, she attended public schools in New York City and later graduated from Barnard College in 1942. She lived with her grandmother, mother and later step-father (her mother divorced her natural father six months before 'Patsy' was born and married Stanley Highsmith) in Fort Worth before moving with her parents to New York in 1927 but returned to live with her grandmother for a year in 1933. The first stagecoach line, established between Elk River and Princeton, came past the Bean residence. The Bean family home soon became a well-known stopping place for travelers. Due to his curiosity, Marlowe finds himself caught up in the search for Velma and in a murder case. In his search for Velma, Malloy kills Mr. Malloy has not seen Velma for eight years. In the nightclub he meets Moose Malloy, a fairly large ex-convict who is searching for his girlfriend Velma. Marlowe’s curious nature lands him at the Florian Nightclub. Philip Marlowe is a self-employed private investigator who is working on the missing case of Dimitrios Aleidis. In Farewell, My Lovely, Raymond Chandler makes continued use of Gothic influence throughout the novel. The Gothic genre has been known to have heavily influenced Hard-Boiled Detective Fiction. Many Hard-Boiled fictions incorporate a broad variety of sub-genres. ![]() ![]() It originated in California during the depression era in Los Angeles around the early or mid-thirties and it reflects the writers. Hard-Boiled Detective fiction is a style of writing that tell stories about crime and have detectives investigate the mysteries behind such events. ![]() ![]() ![]() In 2014, a statewide law (Proposition 47) reclassified nonviolent thefts as misdemeanors for stolen goods worth less than $950. Permissive state and local policies and attitudes have signaled to thieves that San Francisco is a perfect “shopping” destination: a mecca for organized retail crime.
